Dispatch O1
Back in 2017 I took a Biodynamic Gardening class online and this is the first year I am attempting to garden based on the Biodynamic calendar. We didn’t start seeds inside this year, so I’ll be direct sowing on Friday in accordance with the calendar which I’m finding so charming and grounding.
You’ll notice a “Barren phase” and then the New Moon signals a shift in activity. Biodynamic gardening encourages us to utilize the energy of the lunar cycle to grow healthy and happy plants. Below is a brief explanation of what is happening to the ground on Earth from New Moon to Full Moon and vice versa.
I’m happy to slowly begin incorporating these practices and will report back with my findings. Who knows - maybe I’ll be ready to attempt “Biodynamic preparation 500: Burying a manure filled cow horn at the beginning of fall”, but in the meantime… baby steps.
